During an official visit by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto fondly recalled the moment he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru—the highest honor bestowed by the Peruvian government—on November 14, 2024. This memory was shared during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta. Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the prestigious award, considering it a tribute to the entire Indonesian nation and highlighting the strong diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru since 1975.
In return, Prabowo presented Boluarte with Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, in recognition of her significant contributions to strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation. This act symbolized the hope for continued growth in partnership between the two countries.
Furthermore, Indonesia and Peru solidified their collaboration by signing cooperation agreements in various areas such as narcotics eradication, combating illicit trade, ensuring food security, developing mining and energy transitions, enhancing fisheries, and strengthening defense. This signifies a commitment to deepening ties between the two nations for mutual benefit and progress.
