President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his confidence in Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions on schedule, positioning the country as one of the pioneers in this accomplishment. Speaking during a video conference on the inauguration of renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s capacity to efficiently produce energy and cut down on costly logistics chains.
He highlighted the crucial role of energy independence in Indonesia’s vision for national sovereignty, outlining the government’s strategy to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to deliver clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago.
President Prabowo commended the joint efforts of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for their support in Indonesia’s energy transition. While acknowledging the country’s significant oil and gas reserves, he stressed the importance of renewable energy, especially solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide.
With optimism for Indonesia’s future, Prabowo pointed to solar energy as a source of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By harnessing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can lead the way towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
