Indonesia recently celebrated its 80th Independence Day with a flag-lowering ceremony held at Merdeka Palace, creating a solemn atmosphere for all attendees. Among them was Jakarta resident Titi Nurdianti, originally hailing from Cilacap, Central Java, who experienced a mix of pride and deep emotions during this historic event. Titi shared her challenging journey in securing an official ticket for the ceremony, describing the fierce online competition as a ‘war’ where Indonesians raced to click as quickly as possible. Finally obtaining a ticket brought overwhelming joy and emotions as she stood at Merdeka Palace to witness the ceremony in person.
Watching the flag-lowering ceremony on television before, Titi was thrilled to be part of it in person on August 17, 2025. Opting to honor the occasion, she dressed in traditional attire from West Nusa Tenggara, donning a striking red outfit for the event. The lively parade following the ceremony, leading towards the National Monument, added to the grandeur of this year’s Independence Day celebrations, creating lasting memories for Titi.
Amidst tears and joy, Titi offered prayers and good wishes for Indonesia’s future. Expressing optimism for the country’s progress and prosperity on its 80th anniversary, she extended her well wishes for President Prabowo’s health and leadership in advancing Indonesia’s welfare and strength. The emotional responses and heartfelt moments shared by citizens like Titi underscored the profound importance of the Independence Day ceremony at Merdeka Palace.
