French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized the significance of the friendship between Indonesia and France, stating that it goes beyond symbolism to represent a genuine and robust cooperation. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron during his visit to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Macron appreciated the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the importance of collaboration in various sectors such as the economy, technology, security, and culture. The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations for 75 years, with notable advancements over the past decade.
Acknowledging Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region, Macron praised the progress in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition agenda. Cultural collaboration was also a focal point for Macron, and a cultural agreement is set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex symbolizing the growing friendship between Indonesia and France.
Expressing gratitude to President Prabowo for the warm welcome, Macron conveyed optimism for continued joint efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia. The visit highlighted the strong and expanding relationship between the two nations, paving the way for further cooperation in the future.
