Jakarta – Candidate number 2 for President, Prabowo Subianto, visited the Office of the Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) at Graha Oikoumene, Jakarta, on Friday, January 19, 2024. At the event attended by former Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Maruarar Sirait, Prabowo delivered a Christmas and New Year message and introduced a book of vision, mission, and programs offered along with vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
In a dialogue with the PGI board, Prabowo expressed his joy at being present during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
“Hopefully this year brings goodness to all of us,” said Prabowo.
He also mentioned that he is not new to the PGI, having exchanged views with the previous PGI leadership.
Maruarar Sirait emphasized that the PGI is where he processes, and he invited the PGI board to have a discussion with Prabowo and provide constructive suggestions and criticisms.
“Pak Prabowo is very open to listening to input, suggestions, constructive criticism for the good of the nation and the state,” said Maruarar.
On the occasion, Prabowo distributed vision-mission books to the attending PGI board.
“I also brought the book. Maybe it has been distributed? Maybe it can be distributed while I speak,” he said.
In response to the complaints and suggestions put forward by the PGI board, Prabowo assured that the input would be further discussed.
“I will soon meet with the Governor of Jakarta to discuss this. The education issue was also good earlier,” said Prabowo, responding to the requests and hopes of the dialogue participants.
In addition to Maruarar, Prabowo was also accompanied by the Deputy Chair of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Grace Natalie. PSI is one of the political parties that is part of the Coalition for Indonesia Forward to support Prabowo-Gibran. In the 2024 election, Prabowo-Gibran will compete with two other pairs of candidates, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md.
The campaign period will run until February 10, 2024, while voting will take place simultaneously on February 14, 2024, after a quiet period from February 11-13, 2024.
In his response, Prabowo Subianto stated, “Your requests are reasonable, I will soon meet with the Governor of Jakarta to discuss this. The education issue was also good earlier. I believe I am not new to the PGI circle.”
